Conducter and piano accompanist
Stefán R. Gíslason began his music studies at the Music School of Skagafjörður and later studied at the National Church Music School, where he took the degree exams in choir conducting and vocal coaching. In 1991 Stefán graduated from the Music School of Akureyri with a degree in applied organ. Currently, he is employed as the assistant headmaster and music teacher at the Music School of Skagafjörður in addition to being church choir conductor and organist at local churches. Stefán has conducted the Heimir Men's Choir since 1985. Under his leadership, the choir has held concerts all over Iceland and in several foreign countries and enjoys considerable popularity.
Thomas Randal Higgerson began his piano studies at a young age in the United States and earned the license d'enseignement in piano performance in 1975 at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, France. He went on to earn the Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in piano at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and ultimately earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Thomas won first prize in the Artist Presentation Competition in St. Louis, Missouri in 1985 and worked as accompanist, choir conductor, and organist in the United States from 1983 to 1990. He has served as piano accompanist for the Heimir Men's Choir since 1991 and currently teaches at the Music School of Skagafjörður.
